Jodie's walk for clean water

Clean water in Uganda is life changing. Help Jodie raise funds for a new borehole that gives clean water to up to one thousand people.

Right now, 1 in 4 people around the world still don’t have access to safe drinking water.

For many families, collecting water means walking long distances carrying heavy 20-litre jerry cans, often for water that isn’t safe to drink. In many communities, women and children can spend hours each day fetching water, time that could otherwise be spent in school, earning an income, or simply being at home with family.

Unsafe water can also lead to serious illness and preventable diseases.

That’s why I’m raising £6,000 through Amigos Worldwide to help fund the installation of a borehole for a community in Uganda before I travel back out there in November 2026 to work on a project with the charity.

What I love about Amigos is their focus on long-term, sustainable change. The installation of a borehole doesn’t just provide clean water. Alongside hygiene and maintenance training, it can help reduce sickness, reduce time spent walking for water, create more opportunities for education and work, and improve day-to-day life within a community for years to come.

I first travelled to Uganda with Amigos in 2018, and since then I’ve stayed connected through sponsorship, work experience, and eventually becoming part of the team myself.

To help raise awareness and funds, I’ll be carrying a 20-litre jerry can once a week, every week, as a small reminder of the reality many people still face daily just to access water.

Because clean water shouldn’t be a privilege. It’s a basic human necessity.

Thank you so much for any support 🩵
