Godwin Ssesazi BA - Director of Operations
Godwin is a natural leader and well respected by people of all ages. He has 11 years' experience working as an Associate Pastor at Victory Church Ntinda, where his role included management, overseeing finance and accounts, planning projects and youth. Prior to his appointment as Director of Operations, Godwin was the resident pastor at Kira Farm Development Centre, providing counselling, discipleship and spiritual support to staff and students. Godwin's true passion is 'development from the inside out' - leading to real and lasting transformation.
Titus Okello BA - Livelihoods and Community Extension Coordinator
As the Extension Coordinator Titus’s role is varied and wide-ranging. Titus oversees all our work in the community, heading up 35 conservation farming groups, managing our core group of extension workers, and developing new initiatives such as village savings groups (an alternative way of saving when there are no local banks). Titus also teaches Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Appropriate Technologies and Natural Medicines. Titus has always dreamed of working with an NGO (charity) that can unite him with local communities. Amigos is very fortunate to have him as part of our great Ugandan team.
Joshua Kizito BA - Youth Empowerment Facilitator
Joshua has a degree in Adults and Community Education; he specialised in working with, and educating, vulnerable groups (eg the disabled), with a focus on how they can access resources and become self-reliant. He has previously worked in child sponsorship for another NGO, and he worked with international volunteers with Watoto Church, Kampala. As Youth Empowerment Facilitator, Joshua is responsible for Kira Farm Development Centre's curriculum, overseeing all trainers, and also helping trainees with their personal development. Joshua is central to the smooth running and success of Kira Farm and he is an invaluable part of the team.
Mary Kizito - Operation Assistant and Manageress of Kira Lodges
Mary is responsible for the well-being of our trainees and staff. She is central to making the whole project run smoothly, liaising between Godwin, Joshua and the entire Kira community. Mary is also manageress of Kira Lodges, our income generating guesthouses/trainee learning centre, enabling ‘real-life’ training for Kira young people who are interested in finding employment in the catering sector. Mary is married to Joshua and plays a key role in hosting international trips
Joseph Sabiiti - Amigos Child Sponsorship Coordinator
Joseph oversees our Child Sponsorship programme, visiting our sponsored children at home and at school. Joseph collects letters and school report cards three times a year to send to our sponsors, he pays school fees and coordinates the children’s savings programme. Joseph also plays an active role in receiving and hosting international volunteers: arranging travel, accommodation, home visits, and safaris. Joseph speaks 17 languages/dialects!
Catherine Essanyu BSc – Child Sponsorship Assistant and Human Resource
Catherine has a Bachelors in Social Sciences, specialising in Gender & Development and English Literature. She holds a post graduate in Project Planning & Management. Before joining Amigos Catherine had a career in a highly competitive corporate environment. She brings to Amigos not only her professional experience in human resource management and customer service, but also a background of working with orphans at Jinja Child Care centre. She is a focused and dedicated professional.
Anna Mukankusi BSc - Administrative & Finance Officer
Anna holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and is studying for a qualification in accountancy. She has gained a wealth of experience working in both the corporate and NGO sectors. Anna brings to Amigos not only her experience in IT and finance, but also a background of helping the marginalised improve household income. She is self-motivated, professional and a great team player.
Vincent Anguyo - Agriculture Trainer and Farm Manager
Vincent is our specialist in conservation farming techniques. He’s out in the field most days supervising all crop production and working closely with our trainees. Vincent has gone through extensive training in ‘Farming God’s Way’ and loves passing on his knowledge to others. Vincent was one of our first trainees and proved so good, we couldn't let him go!
Lydia Namirembe BA - Tailoring and Crafts Trainer
Lydia provides creative hands-on training, equipping our students to make garments for adults and children, as well as creating decorative household items. Lydia also teaches the decorating of fabrics through painting and tie-dye, the weaving of bags, and the manufacture of crafts such as necklaces, earrings, and bangles.
Alex Lutakome PGDE - Building, Cement and Thatching Trainer
In between training at Kira Farm, Alex has his own very successful building and thatching business. Many of Alex’s grass thatched buildings have become iconic structures throughout Uganda. Alex brings a unique twist of using traditional African designs and natural resources coupled with down-to-earth techniques. We are incredibly fortunate to have Alex sharing his rare skills with our trainees.
Nantongo Mwajuma - Hairdressing and Beautician Trainer
As a beautician Nantongo trains our girls in hair, skincare and beauty. This wide-ranging course also includes: colouring, extensions, braiding and hair straightening as well as manicures, pedicures, nail services and make-up. Many Kira graduates go on to set up successful hairdressing salons in their own homes, providing much needed income for their families.
Justin Ocira - Carpentry Trainer
Justin loves training young Ugandans in the much-needed skill of woodwork. From crafts, household furniture, cutting in a roof, or making doors and windows, Justin makes sure a Kira trainee is able to supplement their income by turning their hands to carpentry when returning to rural Uganda.
Peter Genza BA - Business and Leadership Trainer
Peter’s role at Kira is to help each trainee become a skilful and confident entrepreneur through a series of short courses. As an entrepreneur himself, nothing brings Peter more pleasure than helping each Kira trainee reach their full potential. Peter’s other passion is training pastors and community leaders in effective leadership, which he does very successfully through our workshops for farming group leaders.
Joshua Nsereko Dip - ICT Trainer
Joshua is a vibrant young man who has a passion to help others. Joshua is not only responsible for Kira Farm's IT and photography, but also teaches our trainees in basic computer skills. Joshua has quite a challenge on his hands as most of our trainees come from rural Uganda and have never laid eyes on a computer before.
Stephen Anywar - Farm Assistant and Bicycle Mechanics Trainer
Stephen is a former Kira trainee who excelled in carpentry and building. Before coming to Kira he had already received training in motorbike mechanics, bicycles and generators repairs. Stephen has a wonderful nack of passing on his skills to the Kira trainees in a very simple but effective way. he's a born teacher.
Isaac Otto – Farm Assistant and Assistant Bicycle Mechanics Trainer
Isaac assists Vincent with crop production at Kira Farm Development Centre. As well as training students in conservation farming, he is an important part of bike mechanics programme. Isaac is a former Kira trainee who has been employed at Kira for a number of years. He is a greatly valued member of the team.
Peter Okello - Livestock
Peter is in charge of all livestock on Kira Farm, including goats, rabbits and chickens (but not the termites). Peter sets a great example to new trainees with a big smile and a great work ethic. As a former trainee he gained skills in carpentry, building and conservation farming. He's a great guy to hang out with.
Moses Lubadde - Kira Farm Cook
Moses's responsibilities at Kira include preparing three main meals a day, keeping both staff and trainees very well fed. Moses is a former Kira Farm trainee and a guesthouse intern who always has a big smile, and is seen by the trainees as one of the most important people at the centre (especially when you're hungry!)
Concey Balimwitayijo - Security Guard
Concey helps look after Kira Farm Development Centre 24/7. Concey also helps in ground duties and raising tree seedlings. Our security guards are valued members of the Amigos family.
David Ntege - Security Guard
David is our second security guard helping to keep Kira Farm safe amongst other responsibilities. He comes from Nalyamagonja Village where Kira Farm is located, so has good knowledge of the surrounding area.
Pastor Sam Mukabi Zema
Sam is senior Pastor of Masaka Pentecostal Church, and president of Foundation for Effective Leadership. As an inspirational speaker, Sam is in high demand nationally and internationally, speaking at numerous conferences in Uganda and around the world. His passion is to inspire and equip people in leadership, business skills and marriage.
Elizabeth is CEO of Capital Law Partners & Advocates holding a law degree and postgraduate diploma from the University of Wales. Elizabeth’s speciality includes mergers and acquisitions, constituting and advising boards of directors, compliance, licensing, contract negotiation, private equity and arbitration. Elizabeth is currently a member of the International Lawyers for Africa’s National Committee 2018 and is the chairperson of Amigos Uganda.
Patrick is a retired Senior Superintendent of Uganda’s Prisons who was responsible for Livestock Health & Development. Patrick has been guiding Amigos almost from the beginning. He was the equivalent to the UK’s CEO in Uganda for many years. He is hugely valued and sits on the Uganda board providing advice with his extensive knowledge in farming.
Peter is an international artist, writer and satirist. He is a co-founder of the Ugandan children's cancer charity, Bless A Child Foundation. Peter is also a director at Kampala Art Auction Ltd and a director at Foundation for Effective Leadership. His passion is to equip people in business and leadership skills.
Robina Gloria Kyoshabire Sseruwagi
Robina has been a member of the Amigos board since 2016, she is an advocate of the high court of Uganda. She is a wife, a mother, and an advocate of women's and children’s rights. She loves people and enjoys volunteering. She is a trained mediator with Mediators without Borders with a keen interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Richard Kibuuka BA MA
Richard is a development professional with over 10 years experience working with international NGOs. At present he is leading sustainable development solutions in Uganda, Ethiopia and Malawi with Evidence Action. He is passionate about evidence-based programming and empowering beneficiaries to take a lead in their own development. In the past he has worked with World Vision, SOS Children's Villages and Amigos Worldwide. Richard is married to Stacy, they have two children.
