Mrs. Grace Komakech B.Ed. M.Sc. (Home Economics & Nutrition) Kira Farm Training Centre’s Principal or ‘HM’ as she is more fondly known.
Grace writes….January 2006 saw us as a family prayerfully committing to a New Year’s resolution - to help and care for more disadvantaged young people. God spoke to me powerfully after being involved visiting and researching the shocking circumstances surrounding northern Uganda’s Internal Displaced Persons (Refugee) camps as a result of the LRA rebel activities. A close family friend introduced me to Amigos and their dream to help and train disadvantaged young people with vocational skills. Kira is an answer to our prayers. After spending most of my teaching life in one of the top schools in Uganda, I now have a chance to serve God and my country, sacrificially in my role as Kira principle. Grace also regularly participates in Kira’s morning devotions.

Doreen is responsible for the welfare, attendance and involvement of each Kira student. Doreen works closely with Grace to support the ‘spirit’ of Kira, making sure each student is fully involved and contributing to Kira’s daily life and chores. You will often find Doreen in the field with a Hoe in her hand alongside the students digging. She is a great hands-on team member, emulating a hardworking African lady and mother to all.
