Phil Pugsley - CEO
Phil founded Amigos in year 2000. Phil and his wife Ann have a strong belief that everyone is of value. Coupled with their Christian faith it was easy for them to see the need in Africa and the desired to do something tangible about the huge numbers of AIDS orphans, war displaced and disadvantaged young people there.
Phil is responsible for researching overseas development and raising funds through income-generating projects. He is also the main coordinator for the UK teams. Phil is constantly working to raise funds, inspire and build vision for Amigos and in developing new and existing projects.
Born in Ilfracome and educated at Shebbear College, Phil worked in retail for 10 years before spending 30 years in print. Since January 2009 he has worked full time for Amigos.
Phil and Ann’s passion is to give opportunities and the gift of education to empower the next generation of Ugandans to become confident, caring, and self-supporting mothers and fathers.
